Working with adolescents

Adolescence can be a challenging time physically, academically, socially and emotionally. The demands can sometimes feel overwhelming. It can be helpful to have an opportunity to speak with someone who is not a friend or family member and who is trained and experienced in working with teenagers. By working together in a consistent and confidential way, the therapist and young person aim to develop a joint understanding of his or her difficulties, how they have developed and the ways in which they are negatively affecting his or her life. An experience of having one’s concerns taken seriously and understood can help alleviate symptoms and lead to improved sense of well-being.
