Nina Wessels

I am a consultant child and adolescent psychotherapist and a psychoanalyst, working with adults and young people.  I currently work in private practice at College Crescent in Swiss Cottage where I see adolescents and adults for individual therapy and psychoanalysis, treating emotional and psychological difficulties and disorders.  I have previously worked at the Tavistock Clinic in the Child and Family Department where I was the course organiser for a course in Psychological Therapies with children, young people and families and the lead of a clinical team working with children, adolescents and adults with autism and learning disabilities.  I have given talks at various conferences and have taught, and continue to teach and supervise as a Visiting Lecturer on post-graduate courses at the Tavistock Clinic.

I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and am an accredited member of the British Psychoanalytic Association (BPA) and the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).

I have more than 20 years experience in working therapeutically to treat emotional and behavioural difficulties and disorders.  I completed a Masters Degree in Social Work and in this role I worked with adults and adolescents, as well as facilitating group work with young people and families.  I counselled primary and secondary school students in an international school setting and provided consultation to educational staff. I subsequently qualified as a psychoanalytic child and adolescent psychotherapist and as a psychoanalyst; and have been working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Teams in the NHS; in school settings, in charitable organisations, as well as in private practice.
